The whole plant of the bean family plant Emaohuang is used in medicine, including the roots, whole plant, and seeds. 【Effects and Uses of Emaohuang】

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that Emaohuang has the effects of promoting blood circulation, relieving pain, detoxification, and reducing swelling. It is mainly used for treating abdominal pain, malnutrition in children, female dry blood consumption, waist sprains, wounds, urethritis, parotitis, and snake bites.

1. "Emei Medicinal Plants": Clears heat and promotes diuresis.

2. "Guizhou Herbal Medicine": Nourishes the weak, promotes blood circulation, treats malaria, and relieves pain.

3. "Guangxi Chinese Herbal Medicine": Promotes digestion, relieves pain, and neutralizes snake venom. It is used to treat stomach diseases, malnutrition in children, and snake bites.

【Characteristics of Emaohuang】

The stems of Emaohuang are cylindrical, with a diameter of about 3mm, and have longitudinal ridges on the surface. The plant has trifoliate leaves, with the terminal leaflet being larger, elliptical to inverted ovate in shape, measuring 5.5-9cm in length and 3.5-5cm in width. The leaflet has a blunt or acute tip, with a hard point, and a wedge-shaped base. The leaflet is entire and has a withered green color, with soft hairs on the lower surface. The texture is brittle.

Sometimes, inflorescences or pods can be seen. The pod is about 1.5-2.4cm long, with a constricted ventral suture and a deeply wavy dorsal suture, containing 4-7 segments. The pod surface is densely covered with brown silky hairs. It has a slight odor and a bean-like smell.

【Precautions for Using Emaohuang】

1. For treating abdominal pain: Take 0.1g of Emaohuang seed powder, or take 15g of Emaohuang roots and decoct in water for oral administration. (Guizhou Herbal Medicine)

2. For treating female dry blood consumption: Take 30g of Emaohuang roots. The first dose is decocted in wine for oral administration, and the second dose is stewed with meat for consumption. (Guizhou Herbal Medicine)

Contraindications: Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation.

Dietary restrictions: Excessive internal use should be avoided.
