  Plant Morphology of Biluozi:

Biluozi is an evergreen small tree that can reach up to 7 meters in height. Buds, young branches, leaf backs, and inflorescences are all covered with long, colored hairs. It has a single leaf; the petiole is 1.5-4 cm long; the leaf blade is inverted-lanceolate or narrowly ovate, 8-25 cm long, 2.5-4.5 cm wide, gradually pointed or tail-like at the tip, gradually tapered at the base, with several pointed serrations above the middle, and the back of the leaf is covered with rust-colored soft hairs; 9-18 lateral veins on each side; leathery. The flowers are hermaphroditic, with a terminal panicle, the main axis has 3 edges; the sepals are 5 or 4, ovate or nearly circular, with hairy margins; the petals are 5, white, with the outer 3 nearly circular, with a diameter of 2-2.5 mm, and the inner 2 are about half the length of the stamens, 2-lobed; the stigma has several hairy edges; the developing stamens are 1.2-1.5 mm long; the ovary is hairless. The fruit is spherical with a diameter of 5-8 mm; the nucleus is spherical, slightly oblique, with raised fine reticulation. It flowers in the summer and fruits in September to October.
