Enhancing Medicinal Effects: Combining Shengma with Other Chinese Herbs

Shengma is a common Chinese herb in our daily life, mainly distributed in Tibet, Yunnan, Sichuan, Gansu and other regions of China. Shengma has the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying. Its medicinal effect can be enhanced when combined with other Chinese herbs!


1. Combination with Ge Gen (Pueraria)

Relieving muscle soreness and rashes. Ge Gen can relieve muscle and fever, and promote the eruption of rashes. Shengma can promote the eruption of rashes. When used together, the effect of relieving muscle soreness and promoting rashes is enhanced. It is commonly used for children with poor rash eruption in measles.

2. Combination with Chai Hu (Bupleurum)

3. Combination with Shi Gao (Gypsum)

Clearing Yangming stomach fire. Shi Gao has a pungent and sweet taste, and is extremely cold. It is an essential herb for clearing heat in the lung and stomach meridians. Shengma clears heat and detoxifies, and also promotes the Yangming meridian. When used together, it can clear and disperse, go through the Yangming meridian with targeted effects, and disperse excessive heat in the upper body and smooth internal stagnation. It is an excellent choice for conditions such as strong Yangming stomach fire, headache, swollen and painful gums, and mouth ulcers.

4. Combination with Huang Qi (Astragalus)

Strengthening Qi and promoting Yang. Huang Qi is good at tonifying the Qi of the spleen and lungs, and also has the function of promoting lifting and Yang. Shengma is good at promoting lifting and clearing the Yang of the spleen and stomach. When used together, Huang Qi can be enhanced in promoting lifting and Yang, and Shengma can supplement the Qi of the spleen and stomach within the promotion of Yang. This combination is suitable for conditions of Qi deficiency and sinking.
