【Treatment of Liver Cirrhosis with Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang】

Dr. Liu is skilled in regulating the ascending and descending of qi and the entering and exiting of qi. He often uses Chai Hu formulas in clinical practice and has developed a series of modified formulas, such as Chai Hu Jie Du Tang for treating liver qi stagnation and Chai Hu Huo Luo Tang for treating liver blood stagnation. These formulas have remarkable clinical efficacy.

For patients with long-term liver disease, the condition may progress from qi to blood, from channels to collaterals, and symptoms such as abdominal distension, stabbing pain in the hypochondria, dark complexion, deep and wiry pulse, purple and dark tongue with petechiae on the edges may appear.

In Western medicine, the diagnosis of early-stage liver cirrhosis is often made based on inverted white ball, elevated TTT levels. Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang is commonly used without Ren Shen and Da Zao, and instead, additional ingredients such as Bie Jia, Mu Li, Hong Hua, Qian Cao, and Tu Bie Chong are added to specifically treat liver and spleen blood stasis, soft and firm masses, and relieve distention. This can prevent further progression of liver disease and achieve a miraculous effect of reviving the patient from near death.
