The Benefits of Gardenia-Infused Water: A Traditional Chinese Medicine Approach

Many people in life drink water infused with gardenia, which has many benefits for our body. However, since gardenia is a type of traditional Chinese medicine, it should not be consumed in excess.


Benefits of Infusing Water with Gardenia

1. Clears heat and relieves irritability

According to traditional Chinese medicine, gardenia mainly clears the fire in the three burners, making it particularly suitable for people with excessive liver fire. Especially for those who stay up late and consume alcohol and barbecued food in the summer, they tend to have excessive fire in the three burners. Drinking water infused with gardenia can provide some relief in such situations.

Take 3g of gardenia, 30g of rice, and an appropriate amount of sugar. Wash the gardenia and grind it into fine powder. Wash the rice and cook it in a pot with an appropriate amount of water to make porridge. You can either cook the porridge with the infused gardenia water or add the gardenia powder to the porridge. This method has a good effect in clearing the liver and relieving heat.

3. Adding to soup

Take 100g of gardenia, 80g of lean pork, 20g of shredded preserved vegetables, and an appropriate amount of green onion and ginger. Cut the lean pork into shreds. Add water to a pot and bring it to a boil. Then add the gardenia, lean pork, and shredded preserved vegetables. Cook until the pork floats to the surface, remove any foam, and season with green onion and ginger.


Methods of Infusing Tea with Gardenia

1. Lotus Seed and Gardenia Tea

Ingredients: 5g of gardenia, 30g of lotus seeds (with core)

Instructions: Put the gardenia and lotus seeds in a pot, add 2000ml of water, and boil for 10 minutes.

Effects: Clears heat and relieves irritability.

2. Orange Peel and Gardenia Tea

Ingredients: 9g of orange peel, 6g of gardenia, 5g of licorice, 5g of monk fruit, 5g of seaweed

Instructions: Put all the ingredients in a pot, add 2000ml of water, and simmer for 10 minutes. Drink the infused water.

Effects: Clears heat and detoxifies the body, improves throat discomfort.
