  Five-clawed wind is a climbing shrub, about 1.5 meters tall. The branches are cylindrical, gray-brown to purple-brown, with soft hairs when young and shedding when old, and sparsely covered with thorns.

  The leaflets are linear-lanceolate, attached to the base of the leaf stalk, only attached to the base or slightly separated from the leaf stalk, with soft hairs, and often not divided; the flowers are usually solitary at the apex of the lateral branches;

  The flower stalk is 2-3.5 centimeters long, hairless; the bracts are similar to the leaflets; the flowers are 1.5-2 centimeters in diameter; the calyx is hairless on the outside, only with hairs on the edge of the inner sepals, without thorns or with sparse needle-like thorns;

  The petals are ovate or elliptical, white, slightly hairy, with little or no claw, much shorter than the sepals; the stamens are single, with flattened filaments; the pistils are 10-15, with light yellow long soft hairs at the base of the style and ovary.

  The fruit is hemispherical, hidden in the calyx, with a diameter of 1-1.5 centimeters, red, and with long soft hairs on the base of the persistent style and ovary; the pit is up to 4 millimeters long and wrinkled. Flowering period is from April to May, and fruiting period is from May to June.

  1. Chronic bronchitis

  Take 60 grams of five-clawed wind (Desmodium podocarpum), 24 grams of pengqian shi (Rhododendron simsii), 30 grams of gonggai shi (Vitis pentaphylla) leaves, 12 grams of gan mumi (Houttuynia cordata), 9 grams of baimian feng (Anacyclus pyrethrum), and 15 grams of jie mo mei (Ranunculus ternatus). Decoct in water and take twice a day.

  2. Anemia

  Take 15 grams of five-clawed wind (Desmodium podocarpum), malou shuang (Dipsacus asper), jiuceng feng (Clerodendrum trichotomum), jieduan pang (Nelumbo nucifera), and zouma feng (Penthorum chinense). Stew with pig's feet and take orally.

  3. Cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease and coronary heart disease

  Take 10-15 grams each of five-clawed wind (Desmodium podocarpum), jiuceng feng (Clerodendrum trichotomum), jiulong zuan (Polygonum multiflorum), baowan feng (Ligusticum chuanxiong), and sifang zuan (Cissampelos pareira). Decoct in water and take orally. For coronary heart disease, add fruit of congliang (Myrica rubra).
