  [Original Form of Orthoptera]

  Orthoptera is a small shrub, 0.5-2m tall.

  The branches have scattered soft hairs. The petiole of the leaves has light yellow soft hairs; the stipules are ovate-lanceolate in shape; the leaves are compound in three, with the terminal leaflet being wide elliptical in shape, 4.5-8.5cm long and 2.5-5cm wide, with a blunt apex and a hard tip, a wedge-shaped base, no hairs on the upper surface, and yellow long soft hairs on the veins on the lower surface, with small lateral leaflets, slightly oblique.

  The inflorescence is axillary or terminal, in the form of a cymose panicle, up to 16cm long, with numerous flowers densely arranged; the bracts are ovate-lanceolate in shape and fall off; the calyx is campanulate, with lanceolate calyx teeth and long hairs; the corolla is pink, the standard petal is about 1cm long, without claws, the wing petals are equal in length to the standard petal, and the keel petals are shorter; the ovary is linear, with silky hairs along the ventral and dorsal sutures.

  The fruit is 1.5-2.5cm long, densely covered with black-brown silky hairs, with 4-7 pod joints, the ventral suture is constricted, and the dorsal suture is slightly wavy. It flowers from July to September and fruits from September to November.

  The stem of Orthoptera is cylindrical, with a diameter of about 3mm, and the surface has longitudinal ridges. Compound leaves can be seen, with the terminal leaflet being larger, 5.5-9cm long and 3.5-5cm wide, elliptical or inverted ovate in shape, with a blunt or acute apex, a wedge-shaped base, entire margins, withered green color, and soft hairs on the lower surface, with a brittle texture.

  Sometimes, cymose inflorescences or fruits can be seen. The fruit is 1.5-2.4cm long, with a constricted ventral suture, a deep wavy dorsal suture, 4-7 joints, and a surface densely covered with brown silky hairs. It has a faint odor and a bean-like odor.
