Reproduction method of fake ginseng

1. Sowing

Choose loose and fertile soil with convenient irrigation and drainage as the seedbed. Before sowing, plow the soil and expose it to the sun for 10-15 days, apply 50kg of leaf vegetable seedling fertilizer per hectare, and rake it finely and evenly.

The general planting area is about 150g per hectare, and the seedbed is about 300m2.

During sowing, water the seedbed thoroughly, mix the seeds with fine sand, and sow sparsely. Cover with a layer of soil about 0.5cm thick. In spring, cover with a plastic film, and in summer and autumn, cover with a shade net. The seedlings will emerge after 10-12 days.

After the seedlings emerge, remove the covering material in time. When the seedlings have 1-2 true leaves, the seedlings should be spaced 5cm apart. When the seedlings have 3-4 true leaves, they can be transplanted.

Seedling cultivation in matrix plug trays can also be used. Water the 72-cell plug tray filled with professional matrix in the greenhouse, sow 1-2 seeds per cell, and cover with 0.5cm of matrix. Cover with a plastic film for heat preservation and moisture retention, and remove the film when the seedlings emerge to about 60% after about 10 days.

The seedlings grown from sowing have a very slow growth rate and are about 2 months old.

2. Cutting

In late May and early June, when the temperature reaches 20-30°C, select robust branches, cut them into 6-8cm long cuttings with two pairs of leaves, and keep them moist for cutting.

In Nanjing, heated greenhouses are used for year-round production and supply.

Greenhouse cultivation begins in mid-March and is on the market from late April to early December.

Field cultivation can be planted from April 20th to August, and is on the market from early June to early November.

Disease and pest control methods

Fake ginseng is rarely affected by diseases and pests, but improper management can lead to diseases such as root rot and stem rot, and occasional damage to leaves by the fall armyworm.

Generally, agricultural control measures such as placing insect nets and ensuring ventilation and air permeability are taken, and spraying 70% methyl tobutin 800 times solution or 77% kill 1000 times solution every 15-20 days for prevention.

Once the disease occurs, spray the above-mentioned medicine every 3-5 days for 3-4 times, and promptly remove the diseased plants. After the condition stabilizes, replant new seedlings.
