Liu Jinu: A Traditional Chinese Medicine for Promoting Blood Circulation and Relieving Pain

Liu Jinu is a traditional Chinese medicine that promotes blood circulation and relieves pain. It is used to treat symptoms such as toothache, chronic bronchitis, and pharyngitis and is regarded as a "good medicine for gynecology" by Chinese medicine experts!


1. Treating injuries from falls and blows

Liu Jinu has a warming and dispersing effect, and can promote blood circulation, relieve pain, and stop bleeding. It can be used alone in the form of powder mixed with alcohol to treat injuries from falls and blows, as well as stasis, swelling, and pain.

It can also be combined with Gu Sui Bu and Yan Hu Suo, such as in the formula Liu Shang Yin (Secret Formula for Trauma), to treat traumatic bleeding. It can be applied externally in the form of mashed fresh herb, or combined with Qian Cao and Wu Bei Zi, such as in the formula Zhi Xue Hei Rong Xu (Hemostatic Black Fluff).

2. Treating blood stasis and amenorrhea

Liu Jinu has a pungent and bitter taste, and is good at dispelling and dispersing. It can promote blood circulation, dissolve stasis, relieve pain, and treat blood stasis and amenorrhea. It can be combined with Tao Ren, Dang Gui, and Chuan Xiong, among others. It can also be used to treat postpartum stasis and abdominal pain by mixing it with Gan Cao and taking it with water or alcohol.

3. Treating abdominal pain from food stagnation

Liu Jinu has a fragrant aroma and can invigorate the spleen, promote appetite, and aid in digestion. It is suitable for cases of undigested food stagnation and abdominal pain or diarrhea. It can be taken alone as a decoction or combined with Shan Zha, Mai Ya, Ji Nei Jin, and Bai Zhu, among others.

4. Treating gynecological diseases

Liu Jinu is a blood-activating and stasis-dissolving medicine, and since "blood is the basis for women," it has great value in treating gynecological diseases. When used properly, it can treat postpartum lochia not clearing, abdominal pain, fever, aversion to cold, dry throat, and thirst.

Liu Jinu, Zhi Mu (processed) each 30 grams, Dang Gui (cut, processed), Gui Jian Yu each 60 grams, Tao Ren (peeled, pointed, fried) 45 grams. Grind the five ingredients into coarse powder. Take 12 grams per dose, add one and a half cups of water, simmer until reduced to 8 minutes, remove the residue, and take it warm on an empty stomach before meals.
