January 4, 2024

Ginseng is a well-known tonic and nourishing medicine, known as one of the "Three Treasures of Northeast China". It has the effects of phlegm elimination, stomach strengthening, diuresis, and stimulation. It is commonly used to regulate blood pressure, restore heart function, relieve nervous exhaustion, and treat physical weakness. Since ginseng has so many benefits, it is important to take it correctly to maximize its therapeutic effects in the body. Below, we will introduce the methods of taking ginseng.

  1. Decoction

Cut ginseng into thin slices and put them into a clean sand pot. Then add cold water to soak the ginseng slices, making the water about 5 centimeters higher than the ginseng slices. Cover the sand pot and simmer it on the fire for 40-60 minutes, then pour out the ginseng juice and drink it.

2. Tea infusion

Take 5-10 ginseng slices and put them in a thermos, then pour in boiling water and cover it for 20 minutes. Drink it as a substitute for tea. You can steep it multiple times until the taste becomes light, and then consume the liquid and the ginseng slices together.

3. Steaming

Put 6-9 grams of ginseng slices into a covered enamel cup or bowl, add an appropriate amount of water, and cover it. Put it in a pot filled with cold water, and steam it over low heat for 60 minutes. After it cools slightly, it can be consumed. You can also add rock sugar, dried longan, and red dates to the ginseng soup and steam it together.

4. Powder ingestion

Grind ginseng into powder and fill it into empty capsules or glutinous rice paper. Take 2-3 grams each time and swallow with warm water. You can also add clam powder according to the condition. Placenta powder can be taken together.

5. Chewing and swallowing

Take 1-2 ginseng slices, slowly chew and swallow with saliva, 5-6 times a day.

6. Soaking in alcohol

Take 10-20 grams of whole ginseng and soak it in 500 grams of white wine. Close the bottle tightly and shake it once a day. It can be consumed after two weeks. Take about 10 milliliters each time.

Although ginseng is the king of tonics, it should not be abused. During the period of taking ginseng, it is not advisable to consume tea, radishes, mung beans, crabs, and other foods. If symptoms such as fever, chest fullness, and abdominal distension occur, the intake should be temporarily stopped.
