【Biological Characteristics of Bullfrog】

The bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) feeds on ants, flies, small spiders, and small insects that pass by its burrow. It lives in alkaline sandy soil underneath dry, windproof, and rainproof walls!

The bullfrog larvae leave a small pit on loose yellow soil, which serves as a trap for capturing prey.

Some places have many of these "small soil pits", and the bullfrog hides in the soil of these pits. Once prey falls in, it will come out and eat it.

Its adult is called "ant lion", which may be familiar as it often flies into houses for no reason at night and flies around the chandelier. It turns out that it is the adult form of the "ant lion".

The adult bullfrog lives in grass and often flies during dusk. The larvae live in dry sandy soil and dig funnel-shaped burrows, lurking at the bottom of the burrow, waiting for small insects to fall in to prey on them. It is distributed in South China, Taiwan, Sichuan, and other places.

"Ben Cao Shi Yi": "The sand tiger has poison and can kill birds and animals. It is used in combination with arrows. It lives in sand and stones and creates spiral holes. There are insects like soybeans with spines on their backs. They can walk backwards, also known as walking backwards dogs. They are sleepy by nature and are also called sleeping insects."
