Winter Nourishing Soups: Recipes for Warmth and Wellness

1. Radish and Crucian Carp Soup

Ingredients: Crucian carp, white radish, green onion, ginger, Shaoxing wine, salt.

Directions: Heat oil in a pot, sauté a few slices of ginger, add the crucian carp and fry until cooked. Add water, green onion, and ginger to the pot, bring to a boil over high heat. Add some Shaoxing wine, skim off the foam, cover and simmer until the soup turns white. Add radish strips and a little salt, simmer briefly.

2. Nourishing Lamb Bone Soup

Ingredients: Fresh lamb bones, green onion, ginger, garlic, seasonings.

Directions: Wash the lamb meat and bones, put them in a pot, add enough water, simmer for about an hour, skim off any impurities floating on the surface, add some green onion and ginger, continue to simmer until the soup turns milky white, add some green onion, cilantro, and a suitable amount of salt.

Benefits: Tonifies the deficiency, warms the body and stomach. For those who are physically weak and have cold hands and feet, it is very beneficial to consume lamb bone soup in winter. Lamb bone soup is hot in nature and can warm the stomach and prevent coldness, but excessive consumption can lead to internal heat.


 

3. Astragalus and Black Chicken Soup

Ingredients: 50g astragalus, 1000g black chicken, 10g green onion, 10g ginger.

Directions: Wash the ingredients, blanch them in boiling water for a moment, remove and clean. Wash the astragalus, put it in the black chicken's belly, put it in a clay pot, pour in chicken broth, add cooking wine, salt, green onion, and ginger slices, simmer over low heat until the black chicken meat is tender and flavorful.

Benefits: Astragalus stewed black chicken has the effect of invigorating the spleen, nourishing Qi, nourishing Yin, and enriching blood. It is traditionally used to treat gynecological diseases such as irregular menstruation, excessive leukorrhea, menstrual pain, and dizziness caused by blood deficiency.

4. White Pepper and Pig Stomach Soup

Ingredients: 15g white pepper, 1 pig stomach, suitable amount of salt, cooking wine, monosodium glutamate.

Directions: Slightly crush the white pepper, wash the pig stomach with salt or cornstarch repeatedly, put the crushed white pepper into the pig stomach, then tie the ends with string, add the appropriate amount of water, simmer for about two hours until the soup thickens and the stomach is tender, then add a suitable amount of salt.
