Now it's getting more and more troublesome to cook for myself. I don't know what to eat every day. Let the editor of the Traditional Chinese Medicine website help you! The lotus node is the connecting part of the lotus, containing compounds such as gentianin and tannins, and has high medicinal value. The lotus node and the lotus are similar in taste and function, but the lotus node focuses more on its hemostatic effect.
The medicinal material, dried lotus node, is short and cylindrical, about 2-4 centimeters long and about 2 centimeters in diameter. The surface is yellow-brown to gray-brown, with a slightly swollen central node, with many residual root hairs and root marks, and sometimes dark reddish-brown scale leaf remnants can be seen; the surface of the residual internode at both ends of the node has longitudinal stripes, and small round holes can be seen in the cross-sectional center, with about 8 large holes around it. The body is light, the node is hard and difficult to break. It is odorless, slightly bitter and astringent. The ideal lotus node is black-brown in the node part, white at both ends, dry, and without root hairs or soil.
