【Botanical characteristics】 Gang Song is a short shrub, sometimes a small tree, with a height of 1-2 meters. It branches out and is smooth.
Single leaf, opposite, erect or spreading; leaf blade linear-conical, 5-10 mm long, 0.3-0.5 mm wide, pointed at the tip, with a groove on the upper surface and raised on the lower surface, with transparent glandular spots.
The flowers are small, white, solitary in the leaf axils, with two small bracts at the base, and a short pedicel; the calyx tube is bell-shaped, 5-lobed, about 1 mm long, membranous, persistent; the petals are 5, round, about 1 mm long; stamens are 10, rarely 8, shorter than the petals;
The ovary is 3-celled, each cell with several ovules. The capsule is about 1 mm long and cracks at the upper part. The seeds have angles. Flowering period is July to August.
It grows on hills, mountain streams, and swampy areas. It is distributed in southern China and Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and other places.
