  【Efficacy and Functions of Sangbaipi】

  1. Clearing lung and relieving asthma

  Sangbaipi has a sweet and cool nature and enters the lung meridian. It can clear lung heat, relieve asthma, and eliminate water and dampness in the lungs. It is often used in combination with Goupi to treat lung heat cough and asthma.

  If there is water stagnation in the lungs, distension, fullness, and urgent asthma, it can be used in combination with Mahuang, Apricot Kernel, and Tengli Zi to promote lung ventilation and eliminate water stagnation.

  2. Diuretic and anti-edema

  Sangbaipi has the ability to promote the descent of lung qi, regulate and dredge the water passages, and promote diuresis and reduce edema. It is especially suitable for conditions of wind-water and skin-water excess. It is often used in combination with Fulingpi, Dafupi, and Chenpi to treat general edema, facial edema, fullness, urgent asthma, and difficulty urinating.

  1. Sangbaipi Decoction

  Prepare 15g of Sangbaipi, decoct it in water for half an hour, and then divide it into three doses to be taken within a day. It has the effect of relieving cough and reducing edema.

  2. Xiebai San (Diuretic and Anti-Edema Powder)

  Prepare 10g of Sangbaipi, 10g of Goupi, 6g of roasted licorice, and 9g of polished rice. Put the above Chinese herbs in a ceramic pot, add some water, and simmer for about 1 hour. Take it once a day, divided into two doses. It can treat lung heat cough, red tongue, and yellow fur.

  3. Wupi Tang (Five Peel Decoction)

  Prepare 9g each of Sangbaipi, fresh ginger peel, Dafupi, Fulingpi, and Chenpi. Put the above herbs in a ceramic pot, decoct in water for 30 minutes, and take the decoction. Take one dose daily, divided into two doses. This formula has the function of promoting diuresis and reducing edema, and is mainly used for the treatment of edema.
 


 

  【Food Uses of Sangbaipi】

  1. Sangbaipi Fuling Pig Bone Soup

  Ingredients: 10g Sangbaipi, 20g Fuling, 300g pig bones, 2 honey dates.

  Method: Rinse Sangbaipi and Fuling, soak for 20 minutes, remove the pits from the honey dates; rinse the pig bones and blanch in boiling water to remove foam, then transfer all the ingredients to a clay pot with 6 bowls of water, bring to a boil, and simmer on low heat for 2 hours. Season with salt when drinking.

  2. Sangbaipi and Reed Rhizome Drink

  Ingredients: 20g Sangbaipi, 10g reed rhizome.

  Method: Gently scrape off the outer skin of Sangbaipi, put it in a pot with reed rhizome, add water, simmer for 10 minutes, cover and let it sit for a while, then drink it as a substitute for tea. This is the daily dosage. Modern research has shown that Sangbaipi has the effects of diuresis, lowering blood pressure, regulating metabolism, and treating obesity.
