1. Ecological environment
Zelan prefers warm and humid climates. It grows vigorously during the hot and rainy season in June and July. It is cold-resistant and not afraid of waterlogging. It grows luxuriantly in fertile soil. It is suitable for cultivation in sunny areas with deep and fertile soil rich in humus. It is not suitable for cultivation in dry, barren, and non-irrigated conditions.
2. Reproduction methods
Zelan can be propagated by rhizomes or seeds. Rhizome propagation is mainly used in production.
3. Rhizome propagation
When digging up the rhizomes, select the white, thick, and tender ones, cut them into small sections about 10-15cm long, plant them with row spacing of 30-45cm and plant spacing of 15-20cm, immediately plant them, plant 2-3 sections per hole, cover the soil with a thickness of 5cm, lightly press down and water. Winter planting will sprout in the next spring, and spring planting will sprout in about 10 days. The seeding rate is 750-900kg per hectare.
4. Seed propagation
After harvesting the seeds, sow them in rows in March-April with a row spacing of 30cm. After sowing, cover the soil and lightly press down. The germination rate of the seeds is 50%-60%. When the soil temperature is around 17-20℃ and there is sufficient temperature after sowing, the seedlings will emerge in about 10 days. The seeding rate is 3.75kg per hectare.
