What does lungwort grass look like?
Lungwort grass is a perennial herb that grows 10 to 45 centimeters tall. The basal leaves are thick and papery, kidney-shaped or heart-shaped, measuring 2.5 to 6 centimeters in length. The leaf stalk can reach up to 16 centimeters long. The stem has one leaf, which is round and heart-shaped at the base, clasping the stem, with smooth margins. The flowers are white and single at the apex of the stem. The calyx has 5 ovate or broadly ovate sepals with blunt tips.
The petals are spoon-shaped, inverted-ovate, or lanceolate, measuring up to 2.5 centimeters long, with entire margins and occasionally sparse ciliate or fringed-like lobes at the lower or basal part. There are 5 stamens alternating with the petals, with brown connectives protruding like a diamond-shaped spike above the anthers, and 3 deep-cleft degenerate stamens between the functional ones.
