Traditional Chinese Medicine: The Benefits of Liu Jinu for Pain Relief and Blood Circulation

Liu Jinu is a traditional Chinese medicine that disperses stasis and relieves pain. It is the whole herb of the plant Artemisia anomala, belonging to the Asteraceae family. It is used medicinally for its ability to promote blood circulation, regulate menstruation, and aid in digestion. It can be used to treat symptoms such as toothaches, chronic bronchitis, and pharyngitis.
 


 

  Method 1

  Prescription: 1 liang of Liu Jinu, 1 liang of Zhimu (fried), 2 liang of Danggui (cut, fried), 2 liang of Gu Jianyu, 1.5 liang of Taoren (peeled and fried).

  Method: Grind the ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 4 qian (about 12 grams) of the powder, add 1.5 cups of water, simmer until 8 minutes, remove the residue, take on an empty stomach before meals.

  Effects: Relieves postpartum lochia retention, abdominal pain, fever with aversion to cold, dry throat, and thirst.

  Method 2

  Prescription: 2 liang of Liu Jinu, 3 liang of Jie Geng (fried), 2 liang of Danggui (filed, fried), 1 liang of fresh ginger (cut, fried), 2 liang of Gui (peeled), 1.5 liang of Chen Ju Pi (boiled in water, fried), 3 liang of Shaoyao, 3 liang of Chifuling (peeled).

  Method: Grind the ingredients into a coarse powder. Take 3 qian (about 9 grams) of the powder, add 1.5 cups of water, simmer until 8 minutes, remove the residue, add half a qian (about 1.5 grams) of Yanhusuo powder, stir well, and take warm. Take 3 times a day.

  Effects: Relieves postpartum lochia retention, abdominal pain on the 7th-8th day, distention and fullness in the sides, accompanied by pain in the lower back and legs.
