Traditional Chinese medicine believes that Da Jiugu Niu has the effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, relieving cough, and relieving pain. It is commonly used for lung heat cough, mastitis, mumps, boils, and injuries caused by falls.
The "National Compilation of Chinese Herbal Medicine" states: "Clears heat, detoxifies, relieves pain, and stops coughing. Mainly used for lung heat cough, mumps, mastitis, boils, and swollen abscesses."
1. For lung heat cough: Take 5 grams of Da Jiugu Niu roots (peeled), 2 grams of Xianglingcao, and 2 grams of Wacao. Grind them into powder and take 2 grams each time, twice a day.
2. For mastitis, mumps, boils, and abscesses: Take Da Jiugu Niu, Chonglou, Baiji, Xiaozhanyao, Wu Xiang Xueteng in equal parts, grind them into powder, mix with honey or vinegar, and apply externally.
Symptoms of mumps:
Some people infected with the mumps virus may have no symptoms or very mild symptoms.
When signs and symptoms do appear, they usually occur two to three weeks after exposure to the virus and may include: swelling and pain in one or both sides of the face (mumps), fever, headache, muscle aches, weakness and fatigue, loss of appetite, pain when chewing or swallowing. The main symptom of mumps, and also the most well-known symptom, is swelling of the salivary glands, leading to swelling of the cheeks.
The cause of mumps is the mumps virus, which can easily spread from person to person through infected saliva.
If you are not immune, you can become infected with mumps by inhaling droplets of infected saliva from someone who has just sneezed or coughed. You can also become infected with mumps by sharing utensils or cups with someone who has mumps.
Home remedies for treating mumps:
1. Wash mung beans and cook them in a pot with about three bowls of water. When the mung beans are cooked, add three cabbage hearts and simmer for 20 minutes. After the temperature is suitable, take the juice and drink it twice a day. Usually, it can be cured in about four days.
2. Take 30 grams of fresh Centella asiatica roots, chop them and mash them, then apply them to the affected area. Change the dressing twice a day; or grind a potato with vinegar to make a juice, and apply it to the affected area, reapply after it dries. This continuous cycle can effectively treat mumps.
