  Glutinous Rice Vine grows in shady and moist places in valley forests and at the foot of mountains. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Hunan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangdong, Guangxi, and other places. It is produced in Sichuan, Guizhou, Zhejiang, and other regions.

  1. Biological Characteristics

  Glutinous Rice Vine has strong adaptability to climate and soil, and prefers moist and fertile loamy soil.

  2. Cultivation Techniques

  Glutinous Rice Vine is propagated by seeds. In Sichuan, seeds are sown in March to April. After land preparation, a 1.3m wide ridge is made, and holes with a row spacing of approximately 26cm are dug, about 7cm deep, with a large and flat bottom.

  After applying manure, 7.5kg of seeds are mixed with grass ash and manure, and spread in the holes.

  3. Field Management

  When the Glutinous Rice Vine seedlings are 7-10cm tall, thin and supplement the seedlings, with 4-5 seedlings per hole, and remove weeds and apply fertilizer once. In June, August, and November, weeding and fertilizing should be done once each.

  After that, weeding and fertilizing should be done once each year when new seedlings emerge, in May, and in November. In spring and summer, manure is the main fertilizer, and mixed organic fertilizer is applied in winter.
