Manifestations of Damp-Heat Dysentery: Symptoms, Recipes, and Remedies

Clinical Manifestations of Damp-Heat Accumulation Type Dysentery:

 

  Intermittent abdominal pain, pain worsens with pressure, temporary relief after bowel movement, bloody and purulent stools with a sticky and gelatinous consistency, foul-smelling, burning sensation in the anus, short and red urine, yellow and greasy tongue coating, slippery and rapid pulse. 

 

 


 

 【Garlic and Water Spinach Salad】   

  Ingredients: 15g garlic, 250g fresh water spinach. 5g each of salt, soy sauce, sugar, black sesame, and scallion, a little bit of ground Sichuan pepper and monosodium glutamate. 

 Method: Wash the water spinach and cut into 5-6cm lengths. Blanch in boiling water, then remove and drain. Place the water spinach on a plate and sprinkle with salt, then add garlic, soy sauce, sugar, scallion, ground Sichuan pepper, vinegar, and monosodium glutamate to season. Finally, sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds. 

 Efficacy: Clears heat, detoxifies, kills bacteria, and stops dysentery. 

Usage: Eat an appropriate amount with meals. 

 

 【Aromatic Lotus Stem with Pig Intestines】   

  Ingredients: 90g pig intestines, 30g each of rhizoma coptidis and saussurea costus, and an appropriate amount of rice vinegar. 

 Method: Fill the cleaned intestines with rhizoma coptidis and saussurea costus, tie the ends tightly, place in a clay pot, add an appropriate amount of rice vinegar, and cook until the intestines are tender. 

 Efficacy: Clears heat, eliminates dampness, regulates qi, and stops bleeding. 

Usage: Divide into three portions and eat on an empty stomach. 

 

 【Quick-acting Dysentery Tea】   

  Ingredients: 9g fine tea leaves, 9g betel nuts. 

 Method: Stir-fry the tea leaves with salt, then remove the salt. Boil the tea leaves and betel nuts in water to make a decoction. 

 Efficacy: Relieves stagnation, eliminates damp-heat, and stops dysentery. 

Usage: Take 1-2 doses daily, drink as a substitute for tea. 

 

 【Boiled Egg with Luffa】   

  Ingredients: 500g luffa, 1 egg, 20g brown sugar (or white sugar). 

 Method: Boil the luffa in water for 5 minutes, then add the egg. Once the egg is cooked, crack the shell and continue cooking for a short while. 

 Efficacy: Clears heat, detoxifies, and stops dysentery. 

Usage: Take once daily, dip the cooked egg in sugar. Use brown sugar for bloody dysentery and white sugar for white dysentery. Use for 3-5 days consecutively. 

 

 【Stir-fried Water Spinach with Eggs】   

  Ingredients: 30g water spinach, 2 eggs. 

 Method: Chop the water spinach, beat the eggs, add a small amount of salt, and stir-fry in a hot wok until the eggs are cooked. 

 Efficacy: Clears heat, detoxifies, cools blood, and stops dysentery. 

Usage: Eat with meals, use for 3-5 days consecutively. 

 

 【Water Spinach Congee】   

  Ingredients: 50g water spinach, 50g barley. 

 Method: Chop the water spinach, rinse the barley, cook the two with an appropriate amount of water to make congee, and season. 

 Efficacy: Clears heat, detoxifies, regulates qi, and promotes blood circulation. 

Usage: Take 1-2 times daily, continue for 3-5 days.
