Clinical Manifestations of the Recovery Period of Pertussis:


The paroxysmal cough gradually decreases, the throat hoarseness also disappears, vomiting reduces, and normalcy can be restored in 2-3 weeks. Accompanied by weak cough, hot hands and feet, restless sleep at night, night sweats, red face and dry lips, red tongue with yellow coating, rapid pulse, and pale fingerprints, indicating yin deficiency. Accompanied by weak and low cough, scanty and thin phlegm, cold hands and feet, pale face with fatigue, spontaneous sweating, poor appetite, abdominal distension, loose stools, clear urine, thin white tongue coating, weak and deep pulse, and pale fingerprints, indicating qi deficiency.



Peanut and Rock Sugar Drink
Ingredients: 60g peanuts, 20g rock sugar.
Method: Boil the peanuts in water until they are soft, then add the rock sugar and continue cooking.
Benefits: Nourishes the lungs and stomach.
Usage: Take as needed.

Astragalus and Gelatin Porridge
Ingredients: 15g astragalus, 10g gelatin, 30g glutinous rice.
Method: Boil astragalus to extract the juice, cook glutinous rice in the juice to make porridge, dissolve the gelatin, and mix it into the porridge.
Benefits: Tonifies qi and nourishes blood.
Usage: Take once daily, warm.

Chinese Fritillary and Snow Pear Stewed Pig Lung
Ingredients: 8g Chinese fritillary, 1 snow pear, 20g pig lung, a little rock sugar.
Method: Wash the Chinese fritillary, peel and cut the snow pear into small pieces, wash the pig lung, squeeze out the foam, and cut it into pieces. Put all the ingredients into a clay pot, add rock sugar and water, bring to a boil, then simmer for 3 hours on low heat.
Benefits: Nourishes yin, moistens the lungs, and stops coughing.
Usage: Drink the soup and eat the pear and pig lung.

Coix Seed and Almond Porridge
Ingredients: 15g coix seed, 5g almonds.
Method: Boil the coix seed in water, then simmer over low heat until half cooked. Add the almonds and continue cooking until fully cooked. Add rock sugar to taste.
Benefits: Tonifies qi, invigorates the spleen, moistens the lungs, and stops coughing.
Usage: Take twice daily, as breakfast and dinner. Suitable for those with qi deficiency in the recovery period. Usage: Take in two separate servings, morning and evening.
