Ways to Consume Danshen: From Soup to Tea and More

Danshen is a herbaceous plant, and many people's understanding of Danshen may start with making soup. Danshen is a good ingredient for soup, such as chicken soup, stewed old mother chicken or black chicken, which is very nourishing and suitable for the elderly. So what are the specific ways to consume Danshen?


1. Danshen Tianqi Wujitang (Danshen, Tianqi, Wujitang, Red Dates Soup)

Ingredients: Danshen, black chicken, Tianqi, red dates.

Instructions:

1. Wash and soak Danshen; wash and slice Tianqi.

2. Wash and cut the black chicken into pieces; wash and remove the pits from the red dates.

3. Put the black chicken, Tianqi, Danshen, and red dates into a pot, and add an appropriate amount of water.

4. Boil on high heat and then simmer on low heat for 2 hours.

2. Danshen Hawthorn Tea

Ingredients: Danshen, hawthorn, longan, Chinese angelica, and arborvitae seed, 5 grams each.

Instructions: Chop the larger particles of the herbs into small pieces. Put all the herbs into a cup and soak in 800 ml of hot water. It can be consumed after 20 minutes.

3. Danshen Weight Loss Soup

Wash Danshen, safflower, cassia seed, hawthorn, papaya, poria cocos, rhizoma polygonati, euryale seed, bamboo leaf, dried tangerine peel, cinnamon, lily, and aloe vera. Put them into a pot and simmer for about 1 hour.

Comments: This prescription is more complicated, although they are all Chinese herbs, there may be side effects. If you are not sure, you can use Danshen alone.

4. Soak in Alcohol

In traditional Chinese medicine, medicinal wine has a wide range of uses. Soaking the herbs in white wine can fully exert their medicinal effects. Prepare an appropriate amount of Danshen, wash it with clean water, put it into a container, and add about two pounds of high-concentration white wine. Seal and store for about half a month, then it can be taken.
