According to the different pharmacological effects of drugs, the corresponding methods of administration are established, which are called pharmacological administration methods. Due to the numerous pharmacological effects of drugs, it is difficult to list them all, so only the main effects of drugs are briefly mentioned.
Sweating drugs
As the name suggests, sweating drugs refer to drugs that have a sweating effect and achieve the purpose of dispelling pathogenic factors through sweat. Therefore, when taking such drugs, it is usually advised to take them warm after meals, relying on the function of the lungs to transport essence to the skin and hair, carrying the drug to the surface to dispel pathogenic factors, and at the same time, the warm nature of the drug liquid (warmness can promote dispersion) helps enhance the efficacy of the drug. After taking sweating agents, attention should be paid to keeping warm and promoting sweating. Xu Dachun in "Yi Xue Yuan Liu Lun" said: "If the dispersing agent is used to expel the pathogenic cold outwards, it must be taken hot and warm the body, so that the medicinal qi can circulate in the meridians." "The hot qi spreads to the periphery, disperses the pathogenic cold, and resolves it through sweating. If it is taken lukewarm and only sips it, the patient will still feel cold, or just quietly lie down, then the drug will remain in the stomach and intestines, unable to induce sweating, and there will be no hidden elimination of pathogenic factors, but only the healthy qi will be harmed by the pathogenic cold medicine." However, excessive sweating should also be avoided. It is said that "the whole body should be wrapped tightly".
