Best Ingredients to Pair with Qian Shi for Making Porridge

Qian Shi is neutral in nature and has a sweet and astringent taste. It is known for its ability to nourish the kidneys, strengthen the spleen, and stop diarrhea. It is suitable for those with spleen deficiency, seminal emission, turbid urine, and abnormal vaginal discharge. Many people like to make porridge with Qian Shi, so what are the best ingredients to pair with Qian Shi for making porridge?

Lotus Seed and Qian Shi Porridge

Ingredients

100g lotus seeds (without core), 100g Qian Shi, 50g fresh lotus leaf, 50g glutinous rice.

Instructions

1. Wash and rinse the glutinous rice and Qian Shi, then soak them in cold water for 2-3 hours. Remove and drain.

2. Wash the lotus seeds, soak them in cold water until soft, and remove the core.

3. In a pot, add about 2000ml of cold water, then add the lotus seeds, Qian Shi, and glutinous rice. Bring to a boil over high heat.

4. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until the porridge is cooked. Add rock sugar to taste and simmer for a while longer. Serve hot.

Effects: Nourishes the kidneys, strengthens the spleen, and calms the mind.

Qian Shi and Shan Yao Porridge

Ingredients

1 yam (about 300g), 50g Job's tears, 40g Qian Shi, 100g rice.

Instructions

1. Wash the Job's tears and Qian Shi, then soak them in water for 2 hours.

2. Wash the rice and soak it in water for half an hour.

3. Put the soaked Job's tears and Qian Shi in a pot, add 1500ml of water.

4. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Add the rice and continue to simmer for 20 minutes.

5. With rubber gloves, peel the yam and slice it into 3mm thick pieces. Add the yam to the pot and continue to cook for another 10 minutes. Serve hot.

Qian Shi and Glutinous Rice Porridge

Ingredients

1 cup glutinous rice, 75g Qian Shi, 8 cups of water, 75g rock sugar.

Instructions

1. Wash the glutinous rice and soak it in 8 cups of water for 20 minutes.

2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

3. Wash the Qian Shi, soak it until soft, and steam it. Add it to the porridge and continue to cook until everything is soft and cooked.

4. Add rock sugar to taste, bring to a boil, stir well, and serve.

Effects: Nourishes the kidneys and spleen, removes dampness, and strengthens the essence.

Qian Shi and Fu Ling Porridge

Ingredients: 15g Qian Shi, 15g Fu Ling, rice (as needed).

1. Grind the Qian Shi and Fu Ling into powder and mix them in a bowl with warm water to form a paste.

2. Wash the rice, soak it in cold water for half an hour, remove and drain.

3. In a pot, add about 1200ml of cold water, then add the rice and bring to a boil over high heat.

4. Gradually pour in the Qian Shi and Fu Ling paste, stirring well. Reduce the heat to low and simmer.

5. When the rice is cooked and the porridge is ready, add salt to taste, simmer for a while longer, and serve hot.

Effects: Promotes diuresis and relieves dampness, strengthens the spleen, and nourishes the kidneys.


Qian Shi and Jin Ying Porridge

Ingredients

50g raw Qian Shi, 20g Jin Ying Zi, 100g rice.

Instructions

1. Wash the Qian Shi and soak it for 1 hour.

2. Put the Qian Shi and Jin Ying Zi together with the rice in a pot, add water, and simmer over low heat until the porridge is ready. Serve hot.

Effects: Nourishes the kidneys, astringes essence, strengthens the qi, and invigorates the spleen.

Qian Shi and Da Zao Porridge

Ingredients

15g Qian Shi, 10g Coix seed, 5 jujubes, 100g rice.

Instructions

1. Wash all the ingredients and put them in a clay pot.

2. Add an appropriate amount of water and bring to a boil over high heat.

3. Simmer over low heat for 40 minutes.

Effects: Tonifies qi, strengthens the spleen, nourishes the kidneys, and promotes blood circulation.

Qian Shi and Bai Guo Porridge

30g Qian Shi, 6 Bai Guo (Ginkgo nuts), 50g glutinous rice.

1. Peel the Bai Guo and add them to the glutinous rice.
