Soaking method

Paper pressing method

True saffron: the red color of saffron is not dyed color, pressed hard with tissue paper, the paper will not appear any color residue. Fake saffron: the color of fake saffron is dyed behind, many pigments are on the surface of the material, after pressing hard, there will be pigment shedding, on the paper will appear red residue.

Observation method

Real saffron: put saffron on white paper, spread out and observe carefully, real saffron is the stamen of the flower, therefore, each is trumpet-shaped, part of the existence of fracture phenomenon. Fake saffron: fake saffron is mostly treated with edible glue after dyeing, these glue is not trumpet-shaped, mostly irregular strips or cylindrical.

Chemical test method

Real saffron: go to a small piece of saffron, placed on a glass plate, add a drop of dilute sulfuric acid, real saffron will appear around the flower dark blue, and then slowly change to purple, and then become red-brown. False saffron: because it contains pigment, adding a drop of chemical test liquid will directly lead to the dissolution of the pigment, directly appearing light red phenomenon.
