Compared to adults, babies have very weak digestive functions. If they are given anything to eat without consideration, it can easily cause gastrointestinal burden and affect their digestion. Therefore, parents should pay enough attention to this.
Four Foods that Can Cause Poor Digestion in Babies
Chocolate
Chocolate is very popular among babies, but because it contains a lot of fat, it can easily increase the feeling of fullness and affect their appetite, leading to a decrease in food intake.
Moreover, chocolate is a high-calorie food with little nutritional value. If babies are frequently given chocolate, it not only fails to provide the necessary nutrients, but also increases the burden on their digestive system, leading to poor digestion.
Raw Onions
Raw onions have a spicy taste and can greatly stimulate the digestive system. The stimulation can easily cause poor digestion in babies, and in severe cases, even fever and blurred vision.
Processed Foods
Processed foods are often high in fat and very spicy. Occasionally eating them can stimulate the taste buds and have an appetizing effect.
However, frequent consumption is not good for babies. Firstly, fat is very difficult to digest in a child's digestive system. Secondly, spicy foods can irritate the digestive tract and increase the burden on the gastrointestinal system.
Whipped Cream
Babies love to eat sweet treats like cakes, so many parents add whipped cream to their food to make them eat more.
However, whipped cream is not easily digested by children. It is very thick and if consumed in large quantities, it can actually affect gastric motility, weaken the digestive ability of the gastrointestinal system, and ultimately cause poor digestion.
What to Do if Your Baby Has Indigestion
If your baby has indigestion, leading to poor digestion and loss of appetite, you can cook millet porridge for them to eat.
1. Grind dried chicken gizzard skin into powder and add it to the porridge or egg custard for the baby to consume.
Chicken gizzard skin is the yellow skin on the inside of a chicken gizzard. Take it out, dry it in the microwave, stir-fry it until it becomes crispy, and then grind it into powder. The baby can consume 2-3 grams of this powder every day.
2. Take 100 grams of dried Chinese yam slices, 100 grams of rice or small yellow corn, and an appropriate amount of sugar.
Wash the rice thoroughly and crush it together with the Chinese yam slices. Cook them in a pot with an appropriate amount of water until it becomes porridge.
