Nowadays, there is an increasing number of young women being diagnosed with breast cancer. This has led some middle-aged and elderly women to believe that the age range for high incidence of breast cancer has changed, and they often neglect breast examinations. In fact, although the age at which breast cancer occurs is becoming younger, the two age ranges in which Chinese women are most likely to develop breast cancer have not changed, which are between 40 and 49 years old and around 60 years old.
Menopause does not mean immunity to breast cancer. After menopause, whether a woman is 60 or 70 years old, it is still necessary to have regular breast examinations. Typically, middle-aged and elderly women should perform breast self-examinations at home every month, have a breast physical examination by a breast specialist at the hospital every six months, and have a breast X-ray examination once a year.
