Relieving Painful Periods with Traditional Chinese Medicine: Menstrual Regulation Herbal Soup

Originally, menstruation is a special physiological phenomenon for women. However, some women do not want to have their periods every month because they experience painful menstruation. Women with painful periods feel abdominal and back pain before and after their menstrual period, and sometimes the pain is unbearable. Traditional Chinese medicine points out that women's menstrual disorders are related to kidney function, spleen, liver, Qi and blood, and uterus. In addition, painful periods can be classified into cold and heat categories. If the pain is relieved by drinking hot beverages, it is considered cold, while if the pain intensifies, it is considered heat. If the pain is relieved by pressing or rubbing, it is considered deficiency, while if the pain worsens with pressure, it is considered heat. Below are some medicinal recipes that can relieve painful periods for women who suffer from this condition.

Menstrual Regulation Herbal Soup

Effect: Tonifies Qi, promotes Qi circulation, regulates menstruation, and relieves pain. It can be used as an adjuvant treatment for Qi stagnation and blood stasis type menstrual pain.

Ingredients: Lean and fatty pork, 60 grams each of menstrual regulation herbs, a small amount of scallions, ginger, star anise, and fennel, as well as soybean oil, sugar, salt, and cooking wine.

Instructions:

1. Wash the pork and menstrual regulation herbs. Cut the pork into 2 cm square pieces. Put the menstrual regulation herbs, star anise, and fennel into a cheesecloth bag and set aside.

2. Heat the salad oil in a frying pan. Add the pork and stir-fry until the moisture evaporates. Then, add 1000 ml of water, salt, sugar, cooking wine, and the cheesecloth bag.

3. Bring the soup to a boil and simmer over low heat for 90 minutes.

Usage: Serve as a side dish with meals.
