One of the important acupoints for longevity in the human body is the Yongquan point. It plays a significant role in health preservation, disease prevention, and treatment. Massaging the Yongquan point regularly can promote longevity and nourish the kidneys.

Massage the Yongquan point to nourish the kidneys

The condition of a person's hair is closely related to the abundance of kidney Qi. Hair accompanies a person throughout their life, and its condition is directly linked to the state of kidney Qi during childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and old age.

The kidneys store essence and produce blood, indicating that the origin of blood formation lies in prenatal essence, which nourishes hair with blood. The vitality of a person comes from the kidneys, which transform essence into Qi. Qi is the original driving force behind the life cycle of the human body and stimulates hair growth. To have beautiful and shiny hair, it is important to pay attention to kidney nourishment.

The excessive abundance of kidney Qi can cause headaches on the top of the head. Sometimes, this excess Qi can travel to other parts of the body, such as the eyes, causing discomfort and making it difficult to move the eyes. If it reaches the brain, it can lead to insomnia. If it reaches the feet, the soles will become extremely hot. If it accumulates in the throat, the throat will swell, become dry, and painful. In these cases, massaging the Yongquan point can be very effective.

Moxibustion on the Yongquan point to dispel dampness

If you often feel cold, have cold hands and feet, and the Yongquan point sinks when massaged, you can try moxibustion.

Moxibustion on the Yongquan point is very simple. Buy two moxibustion sticks and ignite them, then place one stick on each Yongquan point. The warm heat from the moxibustion will stimulate the Yongquan point.

You will feel a warm sensation spreading throughout your body, and you will no longer feel cold. You may also feel thirsty, so remember to drink plenty of water.

You can also use foot soaking method by filling a wooden bucket with hot water and adding Artemisia leaves. Soak your feet until your back starts to sweat slightly.

Note: Moxibustion is not suitable if you have excessive internal heat.

Massage precautions for the Yongquan point

The Yongquan point is located on the sole of the foot and is the first acupoint of the kidney meridian. Massaging the Yongquan point can strengthen the body, prevent and treat diseases. However, there are contraindications for massaging the Yongquan point, so it should not be blindly massaged.

Pregnant women and individuals with high blood pressure should not massage the Yongquan point.

In addition, although massaging the Yongquan point can be used for first aid, it should only be used as an emergency measure. It is not recommended to massage the Yongquan point during a high fever or during a state of unconsciousness, as these situations indicate a serious condition.

Lastly, women should avoid massaging the Yongquan point during menstruation. While massaging the Yongquan point can promote blood circulation and remove stasis, women during menstruation need to nourish Qi and blood. Blindly massaging the Yongquan point during this time can negatively affect their physiological health.
