1. Standard positioning

Quze acupoint is located in the middle of the elbow crease, on the ulnar side of the brachial biceps tendon.

2. Acupoint selection method

Palms facing up, bend the elbow at a 45° angle, and select the acupoint on the ulnar side of the brachial biceps tendon.

Quick acupoint selection: Bend the elbow slightly, where you can feel a large tendon, and on the inner side of the crease, you can feel a depression, which is the Quze acupoint.

3. Anatomy of the acupoint

Below the Quze acupoint are the skin, subcutaneous tissue, median nerve, and brachial muscle. The brachial artery and vein pass through this area. The main trunk of the median nerve is distributed here. The skin is innervated by the cutaneous nerve of the inner side of the arm, and the skin creases are deeper.

Quze acupoint is the confluent point of the pericardium meridian. The common feature of acupoints on the pericardium meridian is that they can all treat heart-related diseases. Quze acupoint is particularly effective in treating heart disease patients with stomach discomfort, nausea, and vomiting symptoms.

In addition, long-term pressing of this Quze acupoint has very good therapeutic effects on vomiting, spasms, muscle contractions, hand and foot spasms, chest discomfort, dizziness, and headaches.

During the massage, the patient should sit in an upright position, palms facing up, extend the arm and bend the elbow at a 120° angle. Use the other hand to lightly grasp the elbow tip, with four fingers on the outside and the thumb bent. Use the fingertips to press down vertically on the Quze acupoint. During the pressing, there should be a sense of soreness, tingling, and swelling at the acupoint. The pressing can be done alternately with both hands, and massage should be done once in the morning and evening, each time for 1-3 minutes.

[Clinical applications of Quze acupoint]

Coronary heart disease: 37 patients with coronary heart disease angina were treated with warm moxibustion, achieving immediate therapeutic effects. Before moxibustion, 15 minutes after moxibustion, and 5 minutes after stopping moxibustion, relevant indicators were measured. The local acupoint area of moxibustion was warm and comfortable, and the patient's chest tightness was relieved, and the precardiac area was comfortable. Heart function and other parameters improved. It has certain therapeutic effects on patients with coronary heart disease angina.

Hand and foot spasm syndrome: Patients with hand and foot spasm syndrome characterized by painful, spasmodic muscle contractions and abnormal numbness experienced satisfactory therapeutic effects after acupuncture.

Inhibitory effect on acute ischemic myocardial injury: Acupuncture on the Quze and Geyu acupoints of animals (rabbits) has an inhibitory effect on acute ischemic myocardial injury and inhibits the development of injury. It has an inhibitory effect on the ST segment elevation effect in rabbit electrocardiograms. After the needles were removed, the ST segment potential values showed a natural decline trend. Compared with the control group, the Quze group had statistical significance.
