Guanyuan Acupoint is located three inches below the navel and has the function of nourishing and strengthening the lower body. It can be used for any deficiency of vital energy and is commonly used in the treatment of urinary and reproductive system disorders. Guanyuan Acupoint can be stimulated through massage and moxibustion to regulate the endocrine system and achieve the goal of nourishing and strengthening the body.

【Location】

Patients can lie on their back to locate the Guanyuan Acupoint. It is located in the lower abdomen, on the midline of the body, three inches below the navel (divide the line from the navel to the pubic bone into five equal parts, and the acupoint is at three-fifths of the distance from the navel downwards).

【Healthcare Methods】

Moxibustion, massage, and herbal patches.

Moxibustion: Use a moxibustion jar to warm the acupoint for 3-5 minutes every day. This has the effect of strengthening the kidneys and enhancing male sexual function. It is recommended to use it regularly for significant results.

Massage: Use rubbing or vibrating techniques. For vibrating technique, place the palms on the Guanyuan Acupoint with slight pressure, then quickly and gently move the hands up and down. This can be done anytime, anywhere. Be careful not to apply excessive force, and as long as there is a local sense of soreness and swelling during the massage, it is sufficient.

Herbal patches: Apply herbal patches, such as kidney patches, on the Guanyuan Acupoint to treat kidney deficiency. Other types of herbal patches can also be used.

Moxibustion on Guanyuan Acupoint

Both ancient and modern medical professionals believe that Guanyuan Acupoint is a vital point that can revive a person from a critical condition, and moxibustion is an important method to stimulate this acupoint.

Guanyuan Acupoint is also the gathering point of the Small Intestine Meridian, which means that the energy of the internal organs converges in the chest and abdomen. The small intestine is the main organ for nutrient absorption in the human body, and moxibustion on Guanyuan Acupoint can promote intestinal function and enhance its ability to absorb nutrients. Therefore, it can also be used to regulate gastrointestinal function for those with poor digestive function.

When performing moxibustion on Guanyuan Acupoint, it is important to control the heat. The heat should be warm but not scalding. Moxibustion should last for a long time, continuously warming the acupoint to achieve a state of warmth and comfort inside the abdomen, like melted butter. Moxibustion should be stopped when the acupoint becomes slightly red. After moxibustion on Guanyuan Acupoint, the cold energy in the abdomen will dissipate immediately. The duration of each moxibustion session is generally around 20 minutes, based on individual comfort. It can be done once every other day or twice a week.

If you have a Yin deficiency constitution, it is recommended not to prolong the moxibustion on Guanyuan Acupoint. It is better to combine it with other acupoints on the Liver Meridian of the lower limbs. Different constitutions will have different acupoints and therapeutic effects for moxibustion.
