Yang-strengthening, a term in traditional Chinese medicine, refers to the use of diet, medication, acupuncture, massage, exercise, and other methods to enhance male Yang qi, improve kidney Yang, enhance sexual performance, and increase sexual desire. It is a manifestation of men's pursuit of a higher quality of life. Yang-strengthening is different from premature ejaculation, impotence, and other male sexual dysfunctions. There is currently a misconception in this area that needs to be corrected. Strengthening Yang is mainly achieved through exercise, proper diet, and a healthy lifestyle. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that low sperm count is a result of deficiency in the kidneys. This can be caused by congenital deficiencies, excessive sexual activity leading to kidney damage, chronic illness leading to deficiency in both Qi and blood, or depletion of the source of kidney essence. Therefore, kidney deficiency is the direct cause of low sperm count.
So, how can one self-massage to strengthen Yang?
1. Groin massage
Before going to bed, place both hands on the sides of the groin (the base of the thighs). Massage gently in a diagonal direction 36 times. This can be done several times a week. It has a certain effect in enhancing sexual desire and improving energy.
2. Lower abdomen friction
Before going to bed, place one hand on the lower abdomen just below the navel and the other hand on the waist. Then, hold the waist with one hand and use the other hand to slowly rub the lower abdomen from right to left, feeling the warmth in the abdomen.
3. Friction of the ears
When waking up in the morning, use the fingertips or the ridged surface of the palm to gently rub the ears in a circular motion or press and knead them, feeling a slight swelling and heat in the area. This method has the effect of harmonizing Yin and Yang, promoting the circulation of Qi and blood, and strengthening the kidneys and preserving essence. It has been advocated by generations of health experts.
4. Massage the testicles
Rub your hands together to warm them up. Then, use the right hand to hold both testicles, with the right testicle in the palm and the left testicle between the thumb, index finger, and middle finger ridges. Gently rotate them from right to left 30-50 times, feeling a slight soreness and swelling but no pain. Then, repeat with the left hand.
5. Massage the kidney region
Place both palms on the same side of the waist and rub back and forth for about 2 minutes, feeling a slight warmth in the deep tissues, or make fists with both hands and alternately strike the waist with the back of the hands. The intensity should be moderate, with about 100 strikes on each side. The waist is the residence of the kidneys, and massaging the kidney region is also known as "rubbing the gate of essence." It has the effects of tonifying the kidneys, strengthening the waist, nourishing essence, and promoting the circulation of meridians.
6. Climbing exercise for kidney strengthening
Lie on your back with your hands pulling up from the knees to the hip joints, along the line from the lower abdomen to the top of the head. Cross your hands with palms facing up, straighten both feet, and lower your hands from above in a straight line, reaching forward with your upper body. Move your hands to the Yongquan acupoints on the soles of your feet, push with force, and use the opposite force with your feet. Release your hands to return to a supine position. Repeat this 10 times or determine the number based on your ability. This method strengthens the waist and knees and nourishes the kidneys and essence.
7. Waist massage exercise
Two methods
1) Rub your palms together until they feel warm, then place them on your waist with the palms against the skin. Massage the waist up and down until you feel warmth. You can do this once in the morning and once in the evening, about 200 times each time. This exercise can tonify the kidneys and gather Qi.
2) Make fists with both hands and use the knuckles of the thumbs to naturally massage the waist eyes in a circular motion, gradually increasing the force until you feel a slight soreness and swelling. Continue massaging for about 10 minutes, once in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
The waist is the residence of the kidneys. Regular waist eye massage can prevent and treat conditions such as slow muscle strain, lower back pain, and other symptoms caused by kidney deficiency in middle-aged and elderly people.
