The Extraordinary Acupoint: Duyin - Treating Angina, Stomach Pain, and Hernia

Located on the lateral side of the second toe at the midpoint of the interphalangeal joint, the Duyin Acupoint, also known as Duhui, is an extraordinary acupoint. It has the functions of descending rebellious Qi, regulating the stomach, and relieving pain. It can be used to alleviate conditions such as angina, stomach pain, and hernia.

The term "Duyin" can be understood as unique and exclusive. "Yin" is the opposite of Yang. "Duyin" refers to a state with only Yin and no Yang. This acupoint is an important point for treating female diseases.

Location of the Duyin Acupoint:

1. Standard Location:

The accurate location of the Duyin Acupoint is on the lateral side of the second toe at the far end of the metatarsophalangeal joint.

2. Acupoint Selection:

The patient should be seated with the leg straight or in a supine position. The Duyin Acupoint is located on the lateral side of the toe, 0.1 cun (a unit of measurement in traditional Chinese medicine) behind the corner of the nail bed of the little toe. It should be stimulated with the foot extended.

Functions and Effects of the Duyin Acupoint:

The Duyin Acupoint has the effects of descending rebellious Qi, regulating the stomach, and relieving pain. Massaging the Duyin Acupoint can alleviate conditions such as angina, stomach pain, and hernia.

The Duyin Acupoint is mainly used to treat chest and hypochondriac pain, vomiting, hematemesis, retained placenta, irregular menstruation, hernia, and sudden chest pain.

It is commonly used to treat conditions such as vomiting in gastritis, irregular menstruation, and hernia pain.

Massage Methods for the Duyin Acupoint:

1. Acupuncture:

Find the location of the Duyin Acupoint and use a straight insertion method to insert the needle to a depth of 0.1-0.2 cun until a slight tingling sensation is felt.

2. Moxibustion:

Gently apply moxibustion to the Duyin Acupoint with a moxa stick for 10-15 minutes, once a day. This can help alleviate conditions such as angina, stomach pain, chest pain, hernia, and irregular menstruation. Not suitable for pregnant women.

3. Massage:

Using the tip of the thumb, pinch and massage the Duyin Acupoint for 1-2 minutes. Practice this massage daily to alleviate conditions such as hernia, stomach pain, and irregular menstruation.
