1. In a sitting or lying position, go straight up from the posterior root of the ear to the hairline about 2 finger widths, and press to find tenderness, which indicates the location of this acupoint.

2. In a sitting or lying position, locate the Shuaigu acupoint first on the head, and press to find tenderness 0.5 cun posterior to it.

Anatomy of Tian Chong Acupoint

The skin, subcutaneous tissue, auricular muscle, temporal fascia, and temporal muscle are involved in the Tian Chong acupoint. The skin is innervated by the auricular nerve of the mandibular nerve.

Anatomical Layers: Skin → Subcutaneous tissue → Auricular muscle → Temporal fascia → Temporal muscle.

It is supplied by branches of the occipital nerve and the posterior auricular artery and vein.

It is supplied by the posterior auricular artery and vein, and innervated by branches of the great auricular nerve.

The Tian Chong acupoint can be combined with the Jingming acupoint and the Fengchi acupoint to treat headaches.

The Tian Chong acupoint can be combined with the Baihui acupoint and the Touwei acupoint to promote meridian circulation and relieve pain, treating headaches.

The Tian Chong acupoint can be combined with the Tiantu acupoint and the Shuitu acupoint to disperse masses and soften hardness, treating goiter.

The Tian Chong acupoint can be combined with the Baihui acupoint, the Neiguan acupoint, and the Taichong acupoint to soothe the liver, regulate qi, calm the mind, and treat hysteria.
