Functions

It transforms the qi of the Spleen Meridian in the form of water dampness and wind.

Indications

1. Diseases of the spleen, stomach, and intestines, such as stomach pain, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and dysentery;

2. Mental disorders such as restlessness, insomnia, and mania;

3. Diseases of the Chong Meridian, such as reversed flow of qi with urgency, and qi rushing upward to the heart.

Acid reflux. According to reports, during X-ray gastrointestinal examination of patients with peptic ulcers, it was observed that needling Zusanli point enhanced gastric peristalsis, while needling Gongsun point weakened gastric peristalsis. People who usually have excessive stomach acid can suppress gastric acid secretion by massaging Gongsun point. Massage should be performed between meals for 15-20 minutes.

Abdominal distension. In children, the spleen and stomach are delicate, and excessive hunger, overeating, or eating greasy food can easily lead to indigestion and abdominal distension. Elderly people after chest and abdomen surgery may experience abdominal distension, decreased appetite, and constipation due to surgical stimulation and anesthesia suppression. Local massage of Gongsun point can relieve these symptoms. The specific method is to press and knead the point with one thumb, applying the force towards the Yongquan point, for 10 minutes each time, alternating between both sides.

Menstrual disorders. Gongsun point is connected to the Chong Meridian, which originates from the uterus and has the function of regulating the qi and blood of the twelve meridians. Therefore, massaging Gongsun point can alleviate menstrual disorders and promote the smooth flow of blood. The massage method is to use the pad of the thumb to apply pressure and knead the point until there is a sour and distended feeling. Generally, it should be started around 1 week before the menstrual period and stopped after menstruation.
