Oral ulcers, commonly known as "canker sores," are a common type of ulcerative lesion that occurs in the oral mucosa. What are some specific treatment methods? Let's take a look at how massaging the Hegu acupoint can help treat oral ulcers!

Treatment of Oral Ulcers with Home Remedies

1. Rinsing with Ginger Water

Rinse your mouth with hot ginger water for oral ulcers, 2-3 times a day. Usually, 6-9 rinses can help the ulcer heal.

2. Rinsing with Strong Tea

Rinse your mouth with strong tea, as tea contains various vitamins that can prevent and treat inflammation, providing a certain auxiliary therapeutic effect for the recovery of oral ulcers.

3. Radish and Lotus Root Juice

Take 2 fresh radishes and a piece of fresh lotus root, wash them, mash and squeeze the juice, and use the juice to rinse your mouth 3 times a day. Use continuously for 4 days to see results.

4. Honey Solution

Internally, consuming honey has the effect of clearing heat and detoxification, and externally, it can help stop pain, promote cell regeneration, and heal wounds.

To treat oral ulcers, you can use a 10% honey solution to rinse your mouth. Alternatively, after rinsing your mouth clean, dip a sterilized cotton swab in honey and apply it to the ulcer. Do not eat immediately after applying honey.

After about 15 minutes, you can swallow the honey along with saliva, and continue to apply honey. This can be repeated several times a day.

Treating Oral Ulcers with Hegu Acupoint Massage

The Hegu acupoint has the functions of dredging the heart meridian, relieving pain, and stopping diarrhea. Regular massage can enhance the function of the cardiovascular and cerebrovascular systems.

Hegu acupoint is the confluent point of the Pericardium meridian, where the Qi and blood of the Pericardium meridian converge.

Hegu acupoint belongs to the Pericardium meridian. Massaging Hegu acupoint can achieve the purpose of treating oral ulcers by purging the fire of the Pericardium.

Acupoint Location: Sit upright or lie supine. When bending the elbow, take the radial side of the flexor carpi ulnaris tendon in the horizontal crease on the inner side of the elbow joint with a slight elbow flexion. When feeling the pulsation of the artery, you have found the acupoint.

Use the thumb of one hand to press and rotate the Hegu acupoint on the other hand counterclockwise. The pressure should be moderate, causing a tingling and swollen sensation. Each time, massage for 5 minutes, then switch hands and repeat the same method. Do this twice a day.

For mild cases, after 2 days of continuous massage, the pain of oral ulcers will significantly decrease.

Dietary Considerations for Oral Ulcer Patients

1. Oranges

Oranges are high-calorie fruits. Consuming too many oranges at once can cause symptoms of "internal heat," leading to angular cheilitis, oral mucosal ulceration, tongue blistering, dry throat, and throat pain.

2. Lychee

Lychees contain a lot of fructose, which can easily cause internal heat and toothache.

"Compendium of Materia Medica" also states: "Eating too many fresh lychees can cause gum swelling and mouth pain." Therefore, people with oral ulcers, including oral ulcers, oral thrush, and gum pain, should avoid eating lychees.

3. Pepper

Spicy and hot foods are purely yang and can easily cause internal heat. Oral ulcers are caused by excessive internal heat and the presence of fire in the heart and stomach. Therefore, it is advisable to consume cooling foods. Pepper has a strong spicy taste and a warm nature, so avoid eating it. If consumed, it will worsen the condition. Be cautious!

4. Stimulating Beverages

Smoking, alcohol, coffee, and other stimulating beverages
