  1. Standard Location

The Lígōu acupoint is located on the inner side of the lower leg, 5 cun above the inner ankle tip and in the middle of the inner side of the tibia.

  2. Method of Locating the Acupoint

Sit or lie down, and draw a horizontal line on the middle third of the inner side of the tibia, 5 cun above the inner ankle tip. The intersection point of the line and the inner side of the tibia is the acupoint.

Rapid locating method: While sitting, measure 7 horizontal finger widths vertically above the inner ankle tip, and the depression on the inner side of the tibia is the Lígōu acupoint.

  3. Anatomy of the Acupoint

Below the Lígōu acupoint are the skin, subcutaneous tissue, and the gastrocnemius muscle of the lower leg. The skin is innervated by the saphenous nerve. The subcutaneous tissue is loose, with superficial veins, cutaneous nerves, and superficial lymphatic vessels.

The great saphenous vein runs along with the saphenous nerve. It originates from the medial part of the dorsal vein network of the foot, and runs anteriorly to the front of the inner ankle, and then ascends to the inner side of the lower leg.

The internal cause of vaginal itching is damp-heat in the liver and gallbladder. The Lígōu acupoint happens to be the passage for the warm and humid Qi transmitted from the Sān Yīn Jiāo acupoint, and it diverges to the Foot Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian. Therefore, massaging this acupoint has an immediate effect on relieving vaginal itching.

The Lígōu acupoint is located on the bone, on the front side of the bone. "Lígōu" in ancient times means ladybug, and there is a bug crawling here.

The Lígōu acupoint is used to treat itching diseases. It is especially good for scrotal dermatitis, vaginal itching, and other damp-heat diseases. Women with menstrual problems will find the Lígōu acupoint painful, so they should massage it more often to disperse the pain points and prevent pain during menstruation.

Collateral points are used to treat chronic diseases. The Lígōu acupoint is a collateral point on the liver meridian and connects with the gallbladder meridian. Therefore, it can not only treat chronic diseases of the liver meridian, but also treat chronic diseases of the gallbladder meridian, specifically balancing the liver and gallbladder.

However, for the best therapeutic effect, it is necessary to add the "Qūquán" and "Yīnlíngquán" acupoints for damp-elimination. It is also advisable to drink mung bean and coix seed porridge regularly to eliminate liver toxins and damp-heat.
