Relieve Headaches with Tianchong Acupoint Massage

The Tianchong acupoint is located on the head, 2 inches above the posterior border of the ear and 0.5 inches behind the Shuaigu acupoint.

2. How to find the Tianchong acupoint:

Sit upright, lean back, or lie on the side. Locate the acupoint 2 inches into the hairline above the root of the ear, behind the Shuaigu acupoint, about 0.5 inches.

3. Acupoint anatomy:

The Tianchong acupoint is located in the skin, subcutaneous tissue, supramastoid muscle, temporal fascia, and temporal muscle. The skin is innervated by the auricular nerve branch of the mandibular nerve.

Anatomical layers: skin → subcutaneous tissue → supramastoid muscle → temporal fascia → temporal muscle.

It is supplied by the posterior auricular artery and vein and has branches of the auricular nerve.

Functions and effects of the Tianchong acupoint:

The Tianchong acupoint has the functions of dispelling wind, calming the mind, and reducing swelling. It mainly treats headaches, dizziness, trigeminal neuralgia, hearing loss, goiter, decreased hearing, epilepsy, panic, gum swelling and pain, etc.

The function of the Tianchong acupoint is to promote communication, treat headaches and wind diseases, and alleviate sadness and crying. It is the meeting point of the gallbladder channel and the bladder channel, and has the function of clearing heat and dispersing wind. Therefore, it is known that the function of this acupoint is to promote communication.

It is mainly used to treat headaches, seizures, convulsions, gum swelling, panic, and various brain disorders, with the emphasis on promoting communication.
