Acupressure Points for Hernia Treatment: Massage Techniques to Relieve and Heal

February 9, 2024

Hernia, refers to when an organ or tissue in the human body leaves its normal anatomical position and enters another area through a congenital or acquired weak spot, defect, or opening. Common types of hernias include umbilical hernia, inguinal hernia (direct and indirect), incisional hernia, recurrent hernia, linea alba hernia, and femoral hernia. Abdominal hernias are often caused by factors such as coughing, sneezing, excessive exertion, abdominal obesity, straining during bowel movements, pregnancy, excessive crying in infants, and age-related weakening of the abdominal wall strength. These factors increase the intra-abdominal pressure, forcing the free organs in the abdominal cavity, such as the small intestine, appendix, greater omentum, bladder, ovaries, fallopian tubes, etc., to enter another area through normal or abnormal weak spots, defects, or openings in the body.
