The Effects of Massaging the Yin Jiao Acupoint
Anatomy: Located on the midline of the abdomen, deep to the linea alba; it is related to the small intestine, superficial branches of the abdominal wall arteries and veins, inferior branches of the abdominal wall arteries and veins, and the medial branches of the anterior cutaneous branches of the tenth intercostal nerve.
Main Functions: Relieves cold and pain around the umbilicus, abdominal distension and edema, diarrhea, hernia, genital itching, difficulty urinating, dysmenorrhea, excessive menstrual bleeding, postpartum excessive lochia, infantile fontanel depression, lumbar and knee spasm.
Combination: Combined with Yin Ling Quan and Dai Mai acupoints to treat excessive white and red vaginal discharge;
Combined with Uterus and San Yin Jiao acupoints to treat menstrual disorders and excessive menstrual flow;
Combined with Da Chang Yu and Qu Chi acupoints to treat pain around the umbilicus;
Combined with Tian Shu and Qi Hai acupoints to treat abdominal distension, intestinal rumbling, and diarrhea.
Acupuncture Method: Direct insertion of 0.5 to 1 inch; can also be used for moxibustion. Caution should be taken for pregnant women.
Note: The Ren meridian, one of the eight extraordinary meridians, belongs to the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney meridian. The Ren and Chong meridians intersect, and the "Qian Jin Yi" states that excessive moxibustion can cause infertility; the "Wai Tai" states that moxibustion should not be used for pregnant women.
