Causes of Headache and Dizziness

2. Medication effects - Some blood pressure-lowering drugs, heart and diabetes medications, and even cold and allergy medications may have this side effect.

3. Arrhythmia - Heart diseases can cause abnormal oxygen supply to the brain, leading to dizziness, with slow heartbeats having a greater impact.

4. Chronic diseases - Poorly controlled diabetes, respiratory diseases, kidney diseases, etc. can also cause the above symptoms (such as low blood sugar).

5. Anemia - During pregnancy or when women have heavy menstrual bleeding, the oxygen content in the blood decreases, causing dizziness.

6. High or low blood pressure - Both high and low blood pressure can affect the brain and cause dizziness.

Jinmen Acupoint Introduction

1. Standard location: Jinmen Acupoint is located on the lateral side of the foot, directly below the front edge of the lateral malleolus.

2. Acupoint selection method: With the foot hanging down or lying supine, the acupoint is located 0.5 inch below the front and lower part of the Sanli acupoint, in the depression on the lateral side of the lateral malleolus.

Quick acupoint selection: Sit with the foot hanging down, and when the toes are curled up, a bone protrusion can be seen. The depression on the lateral side is the Jinmen Acupoint.

3. Anatomy of the acupoint

Below the Jinmen Acupoint are the skin, subcutaneous tissue, extensor digitorum brevis muscle, and calcaneal periosteum. The skin is thick and dense, with the lateral cutaneous nerve of the dorsum of the foot distributed in it.

The subcutaneous fascia is formed by dense connective tissue and adipose tissue. The dense connective tissue forms fibrous bundles, which are connected to the skin and the deep fascia of the sole of the foot. The deep fascia of the sole of the foot is thicker on the lateral side than on the medial side, covering the surface of the extensor digitorum brevis muscle.

The needle passes through the skin and subcutaneous fascia, penetrates the lateral side of the deep fascia of the sole of the foot, and reaches between the calcaneus and the lateral malleolus, and inserts into the extensor digitorum brevis muscle on the lateral side of the sole of the foot. This muscle is innervated by the lateral branch of the lateral plantar artery and the lateral branch of the lateral plantar nerve.
