January 24, 2024

In recent years, more and more people have been using the traditional Chinese medical treatment of scraping to treat various illnesses. The clinical application of scraping therapy is also becoming more widespread. Below, we will introduce which ailments can be treated with scraping therapy and which acupoints should be scraped.

1. Sha syndrome (common in summer and autumn, with mild fever and coldness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension or pain, and sudden onset of symptoms): Scraping treatment should be done on both sides of the spine on the back from top to bottom. If there is mental confusion, additional scraping can be done on the forehead and temples.

2. Heatstroke: Gently scrape both sides of the spine from top to bottom, gradually increasing the pressure.

3. External injury due to heat: Scrape the sha tendons on the neck of the patient.

4. Internal injury due to heat: Scrape the back, and also perform scraping treatment on the chest and neck.

5. Early stage of damp and heat (symptoms include cold, loss of appetite, fatigue, and low-grade fever): Scrape the back from top to bottom, and also use a mixture of mugwort and oil to rub and scrape the popliteal fossa, back of the neck, and elbow fossa.

6. Cold: Take 10 grams each of ginger and white onion, chop them evenly and wrap them in a cloth soaked in hot wine. First, scrape the forehead and temples, then scrape both sides of the spine on the back. You can also scrape the elbow fossa and popliteal fossa. If there is nausea, scrape the chest as well.

7. Fever and cough: Scrape from the neck down to the fourth lumbar vertebra, and also perform scraping treatment on the elbows and the cubital fossa. If the cough is severe, scrape the chest as well.

8. Sore throat due to wind-heat: Scrape both sides from the seventh cervical vertebra to the seventh thoracic vertebra (dipped in salt water), and also scrape the muscles on both sides of the front of the neck (sternocleidomastoid muscle) about 50 times.

9. Vomiting: Scrape both sides of the spine from top to bottom to the waist.

10. Abdominal pain: Scrape both sides of the spine on the back. You can also scrape the chest and abdomen at the same time.

11. Malnutrition: Scrape from the Changqiang acupoint to the Dazhui acupoint.

12. Vomiting and diarrhea due to food poisoning: Scrape both sides of the spine. If there is chest tightness and severe abdominal distension, you can also scrape the chest and abdomen.

13. Dizziness and brain swelling: Scrape the back of the neck. Combine with scraping or massaging the temples.

14. Leg cramps and pain: Scrape both sides of the spine (from the fifth thoracic vertebra to the seventh lumbar vertebra), and also perform scraping treatment on the popliteal fossa.

15. Blocked sweating: Scrape the back and chest. If there is insufficient sweating in the hands and feet, you can also scrape the elbows and popliteal fossa.

16. Rheumatic pain: Soak 100 grams of bee hives in alcohol for 3 days, then scrape the sides of the neck and spine with the alcohol-soaked bee hives. At the same time, scrape the popliteal fossa, elbows, or painful areas twice a day.
