Traditional Massage Methods for Longevity: Insights from Ancient Practices

  1. Dian Shan Zhong: Press the middle point of the line connecting the two nipples (Shan Zhong acupoint) with the tip of your thumb, apply pressure for about 30 seconds, and then suddenly release. Repeat this 5 times. It has the functions of relieving chest tightness, regulating qi, relieving pain, and stopping wheezing.

  

  2. Su Hua Gai: Sit upright, calm your mind, take a deep breath, and then exhale slowly. Repeat this 10 times. It has the functions of expelling old air, nourishing new air, strengthening the lungs, regulating qi, and improving respiratory function.

  

  3. Huo Xiong Lang: Slightly spread your fingers apart, place them on the chest wall on both sides of the chest, and slide your fingertips along the intercostal spaces from the inside to the outside. Repeat this 10-15 times. It has the functions of expanding the chest, regulating qi, and stopping coughing and wheezing.

  

  4. Shu Da Chang: Cross one hand over the waist, open the other hand with fingers spread out, and press the fingertips down from the epigastric region along both sides of the navel to the lower abdomen, and then to the right and up to the lower right rib, and then to the left. Rub and knead along the direction of the large intestine 10 times. It has the functions of dredging the large intestine, improving digestion, and preventing constipation.

  

  5. Fen Yin Yang: Take the navel as the center, place both hands with the tiger's mouth facing each other, and lay them flat on the left and right sides of the navel. Rub and stroke inward and outward with both hands for a total of 10 times. It has the functions of regulating qi, relieving bloating, and improving digestion.

  

  6. Cuo Yao Yan: Press firmly on the lumbar point with both hands, and rub downward to the coccyx, with the left and right hands performing the movement simultaneously. Repeat this 30 times. It has the functions of strengthening the waist, invigorating the kidneys, and preventing and treating lower back pain.

  

  7. Rou Huan Tiao: Sit or stand, rub the left Huan Tiao acupoint (the outer 1/3 of the line connecting the greater trochanter of the femur and the sacral hiatus) with the tip of the left thumb, and then rub the right Huan Tiao acupoint with the tip of the right thumb. Cross over and repeat this 10 times. It has the functions of promoting meridian circulation, strengthening tendons, and invigorating the feet.

  

  8. Jia Su Tou: Touch the scalp with the fingertips of both hands, comb from the forehead to the back of the head, and from the top of the head to the temples. The degree of combing should be based on the feeling of warmth in the head. It has the functions of refreshing the mind, relieving pain, and reducing blood pressure.

 

  

  9. An Tai Yang: Use the tips of the index fingers of both hands to press and rotate on the temples on both sides, clockwise and counterclockwise, each for 10-15 times. It has the functions of relieving pain and refreshing the brain.
