Acupressure on points like Zusanli and Neiguan has the effect of relieving motion sickness. Traditional Chinese medicine massage therapy is quite miraculous. In the hot summer, to prevent heatstroke in high temperature environments, massage the Qize point to quickly locate it.
Symptoms of Heatstroke
In hot weather, if you feel symptoms such as dizziness, blurred vision, headache, nausea, chest tightness, and irritability, you may have heatstroke.
Types of Heatstroke
One type is known as dry heat, caused by high temperatures and radiation. Intense sunlight and high temperatures cause excessive loss of body fluids. If fluids are not replenished in a timely manner, heatstroke can easily occur.
Another type is known as humid heat, which is commonly seen in summer. In this case, the body cannot sweat properly, and increased blood flow to the skin can also lead to heatstroke. This is where the Qize point comes into play.
Preventing Heatstroke with Qize Point Massage
The Qize point is the acupoint where the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin and the Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin intersect. From the name, "qu" means hidden, and "ze" means irrigation.
The qi and blood of the Pericardium Meridian gather here, so it can be seen that the Qize point can nourish the heart.
This point is located on the elbow crease, on the inner edge of the biceps brachii tendon.
When locating the point, slightly bend the elbow joint and press on the depression on the inner side of the elbow crease, where you can feel the pulsation of the artery.
After suffering from heatstroke, you can use your right thumb to press on the Qimen point on your left hand, then rotate your left wrist inward to massage the Qize point. There should be a sense of pain when massaging this point.
Combining Qize Point with Other Points
1. Qize point combined with Neiguan and Zhongwan treats vomiting and stomach pain.
2. Qize point combined with Weizhong and Quchi treats heatstroke.
