  [Introduction to this Acupuncture Point]

  1. Location: This acupuncture point is located on the head, 0.5 inches above the front hairline and 3 inches beside the midline of the head. Alternatively, it can be located at the intersection point of 2/3 inner and 1/3 outer distance between the Shenting and Touwei points. It can be accessed in a sitting or lying position, 0.5 inches above the front hairline and 3 inches beside the Shenting point.

  2. Anatomy: It is located in the frontal muscle. It has superficial temporal artery and vein branches and external branches of the frontal nerve.

  Below this acupuncture point are the skin, subcutaneous tissue, frontalis muscle, galea aponeurotica, and periosteum (frontal bone). The skin is innervated by the supraorbital nerve of the frontal nerve. In addition to the distribution of nerves, there are frontal arteries and veins and their branches in the subcutaneous tissue. It is also traversed by the external branches of the frontal nerve and the superficial temporal artery and vein branches.
 


 

  [Effect and Function of this Acupuncture Point]

  Effect: This acupuncture point has the effects of clearing gallbladder fire, clearing the head, calming the mind, dispelling wind, calming seizures, and relieving pain.

  Function: It is the convergence point of the cold-condensed water of the head, and it is transmitted through the gallbladder meridian.

  [Massage Method for this Acupuncture Point]

  Massage method: Use the fingertips or knuckles of the fingers to press down and massage in a circular motion. The patient should use the tip of the thumb joint to press firmly on the acupuncture point, applying vertical force and twisting and rubbing it to produce a noticeable sensation of soreness, numbness, distention, or pain. After a few seconds, gradually relax. Then use the base of the palm to press firmly against the acupuncture point and gently rub back and forth until the local area feels warm. Repeat this process and alternate between the left and right sides. Press each acupuncture point for 5-10 minutes, once or twice a day.

  This acupuncture point is used to treat headaches, dizziness, neck pain, epilepsy, and supraorbital neuralgia, among others. It is used to treat diseases related to the mind and head, such as stroke, hemiplegia, vomiting, epilepsy, headache, dizziness, neck pain, chest and rib pain, and childhood convulsions.
 


 

  [Precautions for Stroke]

  1. Hypertension is the most dangerous factor for stroke. Blood pressure should be effectively controlled by long-term medication, and blood pressure changes should be observed for timely treatment.

  2. Controlling and reducing transient ischemic attacks is a key step in stroke prevention. Once a minor stroke occurs, immediate systematic treatment should be given.

  3. Pay attention to prodromal signs of stroke, such as dizziness, headache, limb numbness, drowsiness, and changes in personality. Treatment measures should be taken to prevent stroke.

     4. Timely treatment of diseases that may cause stroke, such as arteriosclerosis, diabetes, coronary heart disease, hyperlipidemia, high viscosity, type A behavior, obesity, and cervical spondylosis.

  5. The diet should have a reasonable structure, low salt, low fat, and low cholesterol. It is advisable to eat more soy products, vegetables, and fruits. Smoking should be avoided, and alcohol consumption should be limited.
