In life, massage is usually used to treat various diseases. Let's learn about the effects of the Baihui acupoint and how to massage it to treat rhinitis and nasal congestion.

Causes of Rhinitis and Nasal Congestion

1. Viral infection: Viral infection is the primary cause, or it can lead to secondary bacterial infection. The main mode of viral transmission is through inhalation through the respiratory tract, followed by contamination of objects or food entering the body.

2. Genetic factors: Those with a family history of allergies are more susceptible to this disease. Family members of patients often have a history of asthma, urticaria, or drug allergies. Patients with this condition were previously referred to as atopic individuals, as their ability to produce IgE antibodies in their bodies is higher than that of normal individuals.

3. Nasal mucosal susceptibility: Susceptibility is due to frequent stimulation by antigenic substances, but the degree of susceptibility depends on the number of mast cells and eosinophils in the nasal mucosal tissue, as well as their ability to release chemical mediators. It has been proven that patients with allergic rhinitis not only have a higher number of these cells in their nasal mucosa compared to normal individuals, but also have a stronger ability to release chemical mediators.

4. Antigens: Antigenic substances that stimulate the production of IgE antibodies in the body are called allergens. When these allergens enter the nasal mucosa again, they bind to the corresponding IgE antibodies and cause an allergic reaction. The allergens that cause this disease can be classified into two categories: inhalation and food.

Finally, use the fingertips to gently massage in circles around the acupoint until it feels warm. The patient should sit down and relax, pressing and massaging the "Baihui acupoint" with the knuckles of the thumb until a soreness or distension is felt. Then, use the fingertip to rub back and forth along the direction of the bladder meridian until it feels warm.
