Massage Techniques for Treating Insomnia

Many times, we experience insomnia. So what can we do to deal with insomnia? Are there any solutions?

With the modern increase in workload, if you experience anxiety, depression, or irritability, and you often feel that your sleep is not restful at night and your body lacks energy during the day, you can try massaging these "happy points".

What to do with insomnia? How to regulate insomnia? What foods are good for insomnia?

  Massage the Pericardium Meridian

The Pericardium meridian runs along the midline of the front of the arm, starting from the chest, passing through the pericardium, descending to the diaphragm, and reaching the middle finger. There is one meridian on each arm.

You can massage each acupuncture point along the Pericardium meridian one by one. Use pain as a guide for each acupuncture point. Whenever you press a tender point, press it a few more times, preferably until it no longer feels tender. The pressure does not need to be too heavy, and hold the pressure for a few seconds. On average, massage each acupuncture point for 2-3 minutes.

If you find it too troublesome to locate the acupuncture points, you can also directly tap the Pericardium meridian, tapping gradually along the meridian. Tapping the Pericardium meridian is very effective in regulating the flow of Qi.

  Stroke the Renzhong Acupoint

The Renzhong acupoint (between the two breasts) has the functions of calming the mind and relieving chest congestion. When massaging, use the tip of the thumb to press and rub the acupoint with slight force, rubbing for about five seconds each time, and resting for three seconds. When feeling angry, stroke it about one hundred times up and down to achieve the effect of smoothing the flow of Qi.

  Lightly Tap Baihui and Fengchi

The Fengchi acupoint is located at the back of the neck, in the depression between the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the trapezius muscle. Tapping this acupoint can have a refreshing effect. Whenever you feel tired, tense, or anxious, you can tap it lightly. The intensity should be such that you feel a slight pain.

Apply Pressure to the Hegu Acupoint

Place the thumb of one hand horizontally across the first joint of the other hand, and press down on the point where the thumb is aimed at the edge of the other hand's tiger's mouth. The Hegu acupoint belongs to the Large Intestine meridian of the hand Yangming. Massaging this acupoint has a certain therapeutic effect on neurogenic headaches, insomnia, and neurasthenia.
