Acupoint therapy is indeed effective!
Regarding acupoint therapy, the earliest "temperature recorder" was used to measure body surface temperature. This device was continuously studied to confirm the effectiveness of acupoint therapy. By using this device, the temperature changes of the skin can be accurately recorded, thus confirming the effects of acupoint therapy.
For example, when a needle is inserted into an acupoint on the shoulder, the skin temperature on the shoulder will rise. This can be clearly observed through the temperature recorder, especially in the areas known as acupoints, where the temperature is relatively high. However, this is the condition of a healthy person. For individuals with abnormal internal organs, these differences are not as obvious.
Additionally, when a needle is inserted into an acupoint, the skin temperature immediately rises. This indicates that the tension of the sympathetic nervous system is being inhibited.
As mentioned above, when the sympathetic nervous system is tense, the peripheral blood vessels constrict, causing the skin temperature to decrease. However, when an acupoint is stimulated, the tension of the sympathetic nervous system is inhibited, and the parasympathetic nervous system takes the advantage. This results in blood vessel dilation and increased blood flow, leading to an increase in skin temperature. Stimulating an acupoint can also induce a feeling of relaxation and drowsiness, which is due to the dominance of the parasympathetic nervous system and the relaxation of both the body and mind.
