Traditional Chinese Massage Can Help You Live Longer

Many people subconsciously rub their faces to relieve fatigue, which is the effect of traditional Chinese massage. But did you know? Massaging certain parts of the body can actually help you live longer! Let's take a look at which parts you should massage to promote longevity.

1. Refreshing: Rubbing the Forehead

This is a subconscious action that many people do, but most people don't pay attention to it. Rubbing the forehead when feeling tired not only brings comfort to the face, but also brightens the eyes and gives a refreshing feeling. It is a good way to refresh yourself.

Place the fingertips of both hands on the forehead, and rub in a single direction from the center to the sides, about 30-50 times a day. This method can clear the mind, delay the appearance of "frown lines," and work better in the morning after waking up.

For people with dry skin, be gentle when rubbing the face and avoid rubbing too fast to prevent skin damage. If the face is rubbed too hard, it can also cause high blood pressure, so be moderate.

2. Preventing Cold: Rubbing the Nostrils

To prevent a cold, you should rub the nostrils. Start with the index fingers of both hands from the middle of the eyebrows, and rub along the bridge of the nose, not too hard. The best result is when the nostrils become slightly red.

This method can accelerate blood circulation in the nose and stimulate the acupoints, preventing colds and rhinitis. However, be sure to keep your hands clean to avoid contaminating your nose, which can damage the skin.

3. Improve Hearing: Rubbing the Ears

Nowadays, many people have poor hearing, and it is not necessarily related to age. If you want to improve your hearing, start with your ears. Ears are filled with acupoints that connect to various parts of the body. When the body is unwell, it usually shows on the ears. Traditional Chinese medicine states that the kidneys connect to the ears. Regularly rubbing the ears can nourish the kidneys and promote longevity.

When rubbing the ears, focus on rubbing the outer earlobe (the soft cartilage part that curls inward). This can promote the filling of capillaries and improve peripheral circulation. Be careful not to apply too much force when rubbing the ears to avoid injuring yourself.

In addition, elderly people with severe heart disease, ear ulcers, and some tumor patients should avoid rubbing their ears.

4. Emotional Regulation: Rubbing the Chest

This is something that people who like to watch TV are familiar with. When someone gets angry, they often touch the center of their chest from top to bottom, which is actually rubbing the chest. Place both palms lightly on the sternum and sides of the ribs, and make circular rubbing movements. Rub each area 50 times, and you can do it several times a day.

This method can enhance heart and lung function, as well as soothe emotions and regulate mood.

5. Digestive Health: Rubbing the Stomach

Many people have digestive problems due to improper eating habits. Rubbing the stomach can improve many symptoms. Place your palm lightly on the stomach area and make clockwise or counterclockwise circular motions. Clockwise motions can promote bowel movements, while counterclockwise motions can relieve diarrhea. In addition, doing this before bed can help calm the mind, promote sleep.

6. Warming the Kidneys: Rubbing the Waist Eyes

The kidneys have always been a focus of attention, and warming the kidneys involves rubbing the waist eyes. The waist eyes are located four fingers above the highest point of the pelvis. According to traditional Chinese medicine, the waist eyes are where the kidneys are located. The kidneys like warmth and dislike cold. Regularly massaging the waist eyes can warm the kidney yang and promote smoothness of Qi and blood.

Rubbing the waist eyes with the palms of your hands can not only unblock the meridians and strengthen the waist and spine, but also help preserve essence and nourish the kidneys, promoting longevity.

When massaging, rub your hands together until they become warm, press firmly on the waist eye area, pause for a moment, and then rub downward with force. Do this 50-100 times each time, and do it once in the morning and evening. After rubbing, lightly clench your fists and rotate the waist eye area with your knuckles or the back of your fist for about 5 minutes.

7. Boosting Immunity: Rubbing the Hands and Feet

Many people have weak immune systems, and improving immunity is closely related to your hands and feet. Rubbing your hands together or against the back of the other hand until they become red and hot can stimulate the acupoints on your hands and strengthen your body.

Rubbing the soles of your feet with both palms can improve immunity and resistance, prevent colds and respiratory diseases.

Note: There are two types of foot rubbing, dry rubbing and wet rubbing.

For dry rubbing, hold the front part of the left foot with the left hand and rub up and down with the right hand along the sole of the foot 100 times to make the sole feel warm, then switch to the right hand and rub the sole of the right foot. Adjust the strength to your comfort level. For wet rubbing, soak your feet in warm water until they become red, and then rub them using the same method as dry rubbing.

Diabetic patients should be cautious about foot rubbing.
